Liebherr is exhibiting a modified version of its A 954 C HD material handler at 2010 Bauma. This special-purpose machine in the 75 t class has been in successful use for some years and is on display in Munich for the first time with the innovative Liebherr light bulking stick.

Topological optimisation work on the previous industrial stick led to the surfaces being thoroughly examined to locate superfluous mass in no-load areas. The findings were incorporated into a “bionic frame” concept, the aim being to reduce the weight of the new industrial stick systematically and at the same time increase load capacity.

The results of this optimisation: the component’s dead weight was reduced by approximately 20 % and load capacity was increased by up to 400 kg. Apart from its higher handling efficiency, the redesigned stick now provides improved protection for equipment attached to it. Hoses, camera and work-area lights can now be integrated for the best possible protection against damage.
