The new R 9100 100-t mining excavator
With its R 9100 mining excavator, Liebherr sets new standards in handling capacity, reliability and cost-effective operation. This new 100-t excavator is powered by a Liebherr V12 diesel engine, also of new design; it will be capable of complying with all USA/EPA Tier 2 and Tier 4i emission limits and making extremely efficient use of fuel.

With a power output of 565 kW (757 hp), the innovative Liebherr V12 engine together with the excavator’s efficient power hydraulics delivers the high breakout and tearout forces called for in this industry. The Liebherr bucket, with a nominal volume of 8.6 cubic metres, has been optimised for mining work, with increased penetration and a higher fill factor.

Separate radiators with hydrostatically driven cooling fans are provided for the hydraulic system and the engine, to ensure accurate control of operating temperatures. This efficient cooling concept minimises the specific energy consumption of the auxiliaries and functions with great reliability even in the mining industry’s exceptionally severe operating conditions.

The new operator’s cabin is an ideal working environment with first-class comfort and convenience. The raised seat position and large panoramic windows ensure an excellent view of the complete working area. Zones that cannot be observed directly are monitored by two cameras with a new 10.5-inch screen display. Another contribution to high productivity is the cabin’s effective noise insulation.

The first R 9100 prototypes are currently undergoing intensive trials at the manufacturer’s and in the field. The official launch will follow after this.
