Duty-cycle crawler crane optimised for maritime duties
The flagship of the Liebherr hydraulic duty cycle crawler crane programme, the HS 895 HD, is being exhibited at the 2010 ‘Bauma’ as a complete version optimised for maritime duties.

The maritime operations package includes a Negrini hydraulic orange peel grab with a capacity of 6 cubic metres; it is carefully matched to the basic machine and rated for use with material up to a density of 2.6 t/m³. With this configuration, loads can be handled and positioned up to a total weight of 25 t and an outreach of 22 m. Dredging work in water down to a depth of 40 m is also possible.

The hydraulic concept is matched to the basic machine, grab and hose drum, and enables the grab to be opened and closed rapidly. The hydraulically actuated grab arms adapt to the shape of the item being handled, and are therefore more efficient in operation than a mechanical grab.

For optimal control when picking up and repositioning stone blocks, the hoist and drag winches can be run at the same time. The two winches, each with 35-t line pull, make careful control of the task very much easier. This application also takes safety aspects into account: a gate attached to the grab ensures that it is locked automatically if there is a loss of hydraulic pressure.
