New R 954 C SHD crawler excavator with shovel
At the 2010 ‘Bauma’, Liebherr is exhibiting its new R 954 C SHD crawler excavator with shovel. Conceived for mining work, this excavator has a service weight of approximately 62 metric tons. The machine’s specific configuration includes the basic unit with 9.0 t of ballast, an operator’s cab raised by 800 mm and 500 mm wide double-plate track pads.
The R 954 C SHD develops a crowding force of 435 kN (44.3 t) and a breakaway force of up to 355 kN (36.2 t). The excavator’s maximum crowding length is 3.38 m, and with its discharge height of up to 6.30 m it can load all normally used dumper trucks in the relevant size categories.
The R 954 C SHD’s wear-protected shovel has a capacity of 3.5 c. m. when working with material with a specific weight of 1.8 t / cu. m. The shape of the shovel has been chosen for effective penetration of the material and a high filling level. The well-proven parallel kinematics developed by Liebherr ensure efficiency and ample strength. Crowding force is increased continuously to a maximum over the last third of the crowding distance, and the shovel moves in parallel without subsequent adjustment. This ideal equipment concept needs no additional components and therefore avoids imposing extra weight on the working equipment.
