For the construction of a wind-energy park in Hungary the new LR 1600/2-W crawler crane was able to demonstrate its immense capabilities for the first time. Mounted on its 5.8-m narrow-track crawler undercarriage, this 600-t crane can travel from one completed wind power mast directly to the next; the main boom remains in position. For extra safety, two-metre wide crawler track plates that reduce ground pressure are a standard item.
