Liebherr rotary drilling rig LB 36 installing foundation piles
A Liebherr rotary drilling rig, type LB 36, at the foundation project “cover structure tram 23” in Munich, Germany.
The LB 36 is equipped with a 360 kNm Kelly drilling drive, type BA 360. A total of 1,280 m of drilled piles was produced for this project. The piles had diameters of 900 mm and 1,500 mm and lengths of 20 m and 35 m. The boreholes were filled with concrete in the lower section and in the upper section a precast steel support was inserted. Drilling was carried out using water injection to prevent hydraulic subsidence. The daily production rate was 4 piles of 900 mm diameter or 1 pile of 1,500 mm diameter.
