Launch of Generation 4 pipe layers with two new machines
Following up the successfully introduced product ranges of the Generation 4 dozers and crawler loaders, Liebherr presents two new pipe layers accordingly at the Bauma 2010. The launch involves the new RL 44, an upgrade in the 45.9 metric tons lifting capacity class which is driven by a Liebherr Diesel engine with 175 kW / 238 hp and comes with an operating weight of 35,100 kg. The second new pipe layer is the RL 64 providing 90.8 metric tons of lifting capacity. This machine marks the top end of the line and comes with an engine output of 275 kW / 374 hp and an operating weight of 58,000 kg.
Both the new Generation 4 pipe layers, the RL 44 as well as the RL 64, have been designed with focus on both buyers and operators requirements. So customers in the pipe line industry can now benefit from the added value of this new machine Generation: Highest performance, economy and reliability as well as operators comfort and safety.
In continuation of a long history of hydrostatic driven pipe layers, the new machines feature this revolutionary drive concept from Liebherr with uninterrupted power on both tracks, wear free service brakes and a unmatched manoeuvrability including turning on the spot.
The robust Liebherr diesel engines operate at constant low 1,800 rpm at a very economical speed. This reduces fuel consumption, is important for a long component life of the engine and – together with the “on demand” hydraulic cooling system – keeps the noise level at a minimum. Centralized service points with easy access, including a 40° tiltable cab, long service intervals and a service friendly built up help keeping service and operating costs down.
